Level 1 Makeup: My Attempt at a Simple Everyday Look as a Mom

Let’s be real—I rarely put on makeup. But some days, especially when the weather is gloomy, I don’t want to give off full Adam Sandler vibes. So today I decided to try a very simple, beginner-friendly look with products I actually own. No pressure, just playing around and seeing what works.

1️⃣ Tarte Maracuja Tinted Moisturizer

I started with this tinted moisturizer because I wanted something light and natural. I used a beauty blender and just…dabbled. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m doing it “right,” but it gave me a soft, glowy base.

2️⃣ Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeshadow in “Sin”

Next up, eyeshadow! I skipped primer (oops) and went straight on with “Sin.” It’s a soft shimmery shade that makes my eyes pop without looking overdone—perfect for a beginner like me.

3️⃣ Sephora Black Eyeliner

Then came eyeliner. I chose a black pencil from Sephora. I didn’t attempt anything fancy—just a simple line to define my eyes.

4️⃣ Tartelette Tubing Lash Primer + Mascara

To make my lashes a little more noticeable, I used Tartelette tubing lash primer, followed by the Tartelette tubing mascara. It added some volume without clumping, which is a win in my book.

5️⃣ Benefit Dandelion Twinkle Highlighter

I had two highlighters on hand (Becca and Benefit), but I went with the Benefit Dandelion Twinkle. It’s a soft nude-pink, and I applied it lightly on my cheekbones. Still figuring out placement, but it gave me a subtle glow.

6️⃣ Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzer

Bronzer is new territory for me, so I kept it super light. I used Hoola Lite from Benefit and just brushed a little onto the usual spots—cheekbones, temples, and jawline. It added dimension without looking heavy.

7️⃣ NARS Velvet Lip Pencil

Finally, I tried the NARS Velvet Lip Pencil for lips. It’s creamy, comfortable, and gave a polished finish to my “I have no idea what I’m doing” face.

Closing Thoughts:

Overall, this was a fun experiment in beginner makeup. I rarely put on makeup, but today I wanted to try to look a little decent and lift my mood in this gloomy weather. I learned that it’s okay not to be perfect—sometimes just a little glow and definition is enough to feel put together. And yes…probably too many peace signs were thrown in the process!
