(Pro Mom Tip: Use your 15% registry discount before it expires — especially for the things you’ll actually need, like daycare backups. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.)

Putting together a baby registry is supposed to be fun. But let’s be real — it’s also a weird mix of “what do babies even need?” and “how much of this can I convince people to buy so I don’t have to?” Here’s my list of things I actually want and will use, plus a few laughs along the way.

1. Munchkin Brica Out-n-About Trunk & Car Organizer

I am all about organization — even if it’s organized chaos. I had planned to stash this under his car seat and it’s been perfect. Extra diapers, clothes, tissues, toys — all in one spot. Things we keep in there change over time, but having everything easily available has been a game changer.

Mom humor: It’s basically a portable sanity box for car chaos.

2. Pearhead Newborn Handprint & Footprint Kit

I love making memories and documenting those tiny special moments. Handprints and footprints go straight into the baby memory box — the results are precious, and honestly, I feel like a scrapbook queen every time I do it.

Mom humor: Because someday I want to show him, “Yes, your feet were that tiny.”

3. Classic Duck Baby Bath Thermometer

I know the classic hot-with-the-blue-ring duck has been around forever, but I wanted this version. Just telling me the water temperature has significantly lowered my mom anxiety during bath time.

Mom humor: No more panicking over “is this water secretly lava?”

4. Hatch Rest 2nd Gen Sound Machine & Night Light

I had a vision for this one and knew we’d use it for years. Seeing the time, preset sounds and lights, and the easy tap function make daily life so much smoother. Honestly, we use it every single day.

Mom humor: This is my bedtime hero. Without it, I’d probably be napping on the floor next to him.

5. Graco Turn2Me 3-in-1 Rotating Car Seat

When putting together a registry, it’s easy to focus only on newborn gear — but think long term. We had to switch seats before 3 months because the baby car seat was causing fits, and this rotating convertible seat has been life changing.

Mom humor: Rotates like magic, so my back doesn’t hate me.

6. Ergobaby Evolve 3-in-1 Bouncer

I knew I wanted a bouncer that could move easily. It’s been perfect while pumping, bottle feeding, or keeping an eye on him while I shower.

Mom humor: Basically my portable babysitter (but quieter).

7. Premium Portable Diaper Changing Pad + Bottle Bag

I wanted a changing pad that could hold diapers and wipes, so I didn’t have to juggle a million things into the bathroom. Bonus: the bottle bag fits multiple bottles with an ice pack — daycare prep, check.

Mom humor: Who knew a diaper pad could make me feel like a packing ninja?

8. Forbena Floating Nursery Bookshelves (Set of 4)

Decorating the nursery is fun, but also functional. I wanted books easy to reach for storytime. These shelves let us showcase books beautifully and see every one at a glance.

Mom humor: Finally, the books aren’t buried under a mountain of toys. Win.

9. Scotch Self-Seal Laminating Pouches

Top of my registry list for storing sonogram photos safely. I learned these work perfectly without a fancy laminator, and now all the photos live happily in the memory box.

Mom humor: Laminating = adulting, but make it baby-themed.

Final Mom Tip:

Buy extras of anything you’ll use daily — sheets, bottles, wipes — especially if daycare requires backups. That 15% discount isn’t going to save itself, and trust me, you’ll use it faster than you think.
