The 3 Things I Ordered While Sitting in My Hospital Bed

Being in the hospital after giving birth can feel like a mix of awe, exhaustion, and “oh wow, now what?” Between the haze of newborn snuggles and sleep deprivation, I realized there were a few things I needed to make life easier—and I didn’t want to wait to get them. So, yes, I whipped out my phone and ordered them right from my hospital bed.
Here’s what made the cut:
1. Maymom Pump Parts Compatible with Spectra/Ameda Luna Pumps
When the lactation consultant measured my nipples and confirmed I needed smaller flanges, I knew my standard pump parts weren’t going to cut it. I ordered the Maymom kit (includes wide mouth flange 14 mm valve) so I could pump comfortably and effectively. Lifesaver doesn’t even begin to cover it.

2. My Brest Friend Super Deluxe Nursing Pillow
Recommended by both nurses and my lactation consultant, this pillow is more than just a cushion—it’s ergonomic support for mom and baby. Adjustable, cozy, and with a handy side pocket for burp cloths or your phone, it made those first feeding sessions way less awkward (and way more comfortable).

3. SwaddleMe by Ingenuity Easy Change Baby Swaddle (0-3 Months)
Swaddling sounded simple in theory… until we tried it and realized we were clearly not natural-born burrito makers. The Easy Change Baby Swaddle with zipper saved us countless fussy minutes and allowed us to actually put our little one down without a panic attack.
Ordering these small things while still in the hospital made a huge difference in the first few weeks at home. The right tools can make newborn life less stressful and more about enjoying those tiny, precious moments.
