I’ll be real—most of my pregnancy wardrobe was 90% comfy clothes and 10% “maybe I should try today.” But every now and then, a moment would come up where I wanted to feel a little more like myself: a dinner out, a baby shower, or just a random day where I needed something other than yoga pants.
That’s where these dresses came in.
I didn’t wear them every day—but when I did, they made me feel just a little more human, a little more stylish, and a lot more like me. Here are the few pieces that stayed in my closet for those “special occasion” moments:
This body con-style dress was my go-to for both my baby shower and a family dinner, in two different colors. It’s sleek, stretchy, and fitted just enough to show off the bump without feeling uncomfortable. The side slit gave a hint of drama. Not a daily staple, but for those times when I procrastinated on polish and needed to feel dressed up—this dress delivered.

A great choice for feeling polished on a warm day. I wore this to a casual lunch and felt surprisingly pulled together. The buttons make it nursing-friendly too, so it’s still hanging around post-baby.

The ruffles, the v-neck, the comfy fabric—this was my “I need to show up to an event but still want to eat dessert comfortably” dress. It worked perfectly for a family gathering where photos were definitely going to happen.

Light, breezy, and the kind of dress that made me almost forget I was waddling. This dress is able to be worn just as or with a simple cardigan. Didn’t wear it much, but when I did, it was just right.

This was my maternity shoot dress—and honestly, it made me feel beautiful in a season where I often didn’t recognize myself. It has the perfect mix of softness and structure: feminine, slightly romantic, and just stretchy enough to be comfortable while still looking elegant. It photographed beautifully and gave that extra bit of magic for a moment I really wanted to remember.

So no, I didn’t live in these dresses—but I’m glad I had them on hand for the moments when I needed to show up and shine a little. Sometimes, a good dress can remind you there’s still a version of yourself under all the hormones, nausea, and stretchy waistbands.
Did you have a go-to “feel like me again” outfit during pregnancy? Because those little fashion wins count too.
