I’ve been counting down the days for this one—the Maryland Corn Maze, Wicked-themed edition! I’m a huge fan of Wicked on Broadway (and yes, the movie too), so when I saw the theme this year, I was beyond excited. Part 2 of my Wicked obsession is coming in November, but this outing? The perfect early fall adventure for my 2-year-old toddler. Honestly, I’d even go for a girls’ day—just me, a coffee, and some cornfield chaos.

We got there early, because nobody wants to deal with long lines when you have a toddler in tow. Our first stop: the petting farm. We fed the animals, petted them, and my toddler even made it halfway up the hay tower (pants recommended, but it was warm so we went with short overalls). The play area was amazing—he pedaled tractors, climbed a pirate ship, and basically had a blast.

Next up, the corn maze. I was mentally preparing for getting lost and needing a rescue. They gave us a flag for emergencies, and let me tell you—it came in handy when our group got split up a few times! We started at 10:23am and made it out by 10:51am, which honestly felt like a victory. Along the way, there were Wicked-themed pop-ups: The Grimmerie, Glinda, Shiz University, Fiyero and his bike, Emerald City. My toddler walked about 70% of it, which was impressive, and even though we didn’t get to see everything (sad me), the maze was perfect for a fun, manageable adventure without the stress of getting lost for hours.

The real toddler highlights? The slide—he went down at least 20 times. Tire mountain—he loved climbing and exploring. And the bubbles—oh my goodness, they were HUGE and made his top three.

But the cherry on top for me? The zipline swing. I hopped on, zipped across, and felt like I was defying gravity—cue the video with the Defying Gravity soundtrack playing in my head. Absolute. Blast. I might have screamed a little.

We also sampled the food—pizza, chicken tenders, and wings—which was perfect for a quick refuel. Then we took a hayride, and he loved waving around as we cruised the field. While he played on the tractors, we tried our hand at the slingshots, aiming for the targets, and I even had my first paintball experience—totally worth the small fee!

On the way out, there were souvenirs and pumpkins. My toddler picked out a yellow pinwheel, and I left with a giant smile and a little corn dust in my hair.

Honestly, this outing was everything I wanted it to be: fun, family-friendly, a little chaotic, and full of Wicked magic. If you’re local, I’m recommending it to all my friends, and I’ll be back—maybe even for a solo girls’ day.
