I love doing little photoshoots with my baby, so when his first Valentine’s Day rolled around, I went all in. I truly couldn’t help myself—and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I picked up a few different decor pieces, grabbed two Valentine’s outfits from Target, and then made him a bunch of custom onesies with funny sayings (because why not?). I had so much fun planning it all, and honestly, seeing it come together made my mama heart so happy.

At the time of these photos, he was 8 months old, which was such a fun age—sitting up, full of personality, and still very baby. I wanted to share a few of the photos and the decor pieces I used in case it gives you a little inspiration to create your own Valentine’s Day setup with your little one 🤍

You don’t need a professional studio or anything fancy—just a few thoughtful pieces, good lighting, and a baby who’s willing to cooperate (even if only for 5 minutes 😅).

Valentine’s Day Decor I Used for the Photoshoot

💕 Colorful Heart Wooden Signs (Set of 6)

These were perfect for adding pops of color and sweetness to the setup. Each heart has an adorable saying like “Be Mine,” “Kiss Me,” and “Hug Me.” They’re small enough to style anywhere but still photograph beautifully.

💞 Retro Farmhouse Valentine Wood Blocks

If you love a softer, vintage vibe, these were such a good mix-in. The distressed look and warm colors made everything feel cozy and timeless—especially paired with neutral blankets.

❤️ LOVE Wooden Letter Sign

This piece was a statement on its own. It’s sturdy, stands up well, and instantly makes the setup feel intentional. I used it right near him as a focal point.

💗 Red & Pink Heart Hanging Garland

I used this as part of the backdrop, and it worked perfectly for photos. It’s lightweight, already assembled, and adds instant Valentine’s Day vibes without much effort.

💎 Acrylic Heart Table Scatter

These little acrylic hearts were such a fun detail. I scattered them around the blanket and a small table area to catch the light and add a little sparkle.

🧸 Faux Fur Heart Pillow

This heart pillow was not only adorable but also practical—it helped prop him up and added texture to the photos. Plus, it’s super soft and kid-friendly.

❌⭕ XOXO Mylar Balloons

These made the photos feel playful and festive. They photographed so well and were easy to inflate and reposition during the shoot.

📸 Backdrop Stand (My Go-To for Every Mini Shoot)

I use this every single time I do a mini photoshoot, and it never lets me down. It’s adjustable, lightweight, and so easy to store. If you love doing themed photos at home, this is 100% worth it.

🤍 Soft White Fleece Blanket

This was the perfect neutral base for everything. It made the colors pop and added such a cozy feel to the photos.

Final Thoughts 💌

This photoshoot didn’t have to be perfect—it just had to be us. If you’ve been thinking about doing something special for your baby’s first (or second, or third) Valentine’s Day, take this as your sign. A few simple decor pieces and a little creativity can turn into memories you’ll treasure forever.
