Getting My Pink Back: Revamping My Closet Two Years Postpartum

Motherhood has a way of changing not just your life, but sometimes your wardrobe too. Two years postpartum, I began to notice something subtle but powerful: my “pink” was fading. Not literal pink, though sometimes it felt that way—it was the energy, the vibe, the part of me that used to feel cute and confident in my own skin. Around the two-year mark, I started seeing myself shift from a pale, barely-there pink back toward a medium shade—the me I remembered, the me I missed.

I dyed my hair, and honestly, that was the restart I didn’t realize I needed. Suddenly, I didn’t want to dress like Adam Sandler every day (sweatpants and hoodies, I see you). I wanted clothes that made me feel comfortable and cute. Clothes I actually wanted to take pictures in.

For me, revamping my closet meant heading to Old Navy for the basics. I wanted mix-and-match pieces that could easily work with what I already had. It was all about practicality and style—because chasing a toddler doesn’t exactly scream runway-ready, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel good about what I’m wearing.

The beginning of summer was the perfect time to get my pink back. I had a vision: skorts, breezy linen, and a little bit of Chessy from The Parent Trap vibes. I wanted to feel feminine, functional, and like myself again. Here’s what became my summer essentials:

This was my ultimate Chessy shirt. Oversized? They weren’t kidding. I’ve worn it with biker shorts, pants, leggings—you name it. It’s that perfect mix of comfy and stylish, great for playground runs or coffee dates.

Cropped over long? Yes, please. I love how a cropped button-down breaks up my body in the areas I’m self-conscious about without sacrificing comfort.

Airy, breezy, and perfect for summer heat. The waistband is comfy, and they’re great for days spent running errands or chasing toddlers.

Skorts are having a moment—and for good reason. I can keep a feminine vibe without worrying about anyone seeing up my skirt while I’m crawling around with my toddler. Playground-tested, mom-approved.

At this point, I might need an entire drawer devoted to these. I don’t know why I didn’t try biker shorts sooner, but now I’m hooked. They hold everything together, look great, and can be styled in so many ways with my new wardrobe. Perfect for playgrounds, errands, walks, and coffee runs.

I may have five colors of this tank. The second I tried it on, I was sold. It layers beautifully with all my other basics, giving me endless outfit options.

I grabbed a few of these in multiple colors because, honestly, you can never have too many reliable basics.

Rediscovering your “pink” is more than just clothes—it’s about finding a little piece of yourself again, two years (or however long) postpartum. It’s realizing that comfort and style can coexist. That chasing a toddler doesn’t mean you can’t feel cute. That sometimes, all it takes is a good pair of skorts and a fresh tank top to remind yourself: you’re still you.
